Grotto Falls

On Sunday we went hiking with some friends up to Grotto Falls, which turned out to be super cool. The kids had a blast, Dodger was kicking his legs the whole time and Taya, of course, was in heaven. She LOVES being outside! (Guess it's time to invest in some better walking/hiking shoes than crocs :).) It was a beautiful hike, a little bit colder than we thought it would be, but we still had a blast. We're thinking about making this our new Sunday activity.

We can't seem to get Taya to open her eyes when she smiles!

Taya was TERRIFIED of these caves on both sides of us. It took her a long time to warm up, and even then she just clung to Cam the whole time. She still talks about the "scary tunnels". Ha!

The waterfall was so loud Taya was plugging her ears the whole time :)

Classic Taya

This is my friend Trisha and her little boy Cannon. Her and her husband went with us. Don't look at the differences in our skin tones :) Poor Dodger looks like a ghost! He must have gotten lucky and inherited the Woodward skin! Sorry baby.

It's About Time!

Eight months later and Dodger is FINALLY starting to sit up on his own! And I thought Taya took a long time! I haven't updated on him in a while, so I thought I'd hurry and do it...

Dodger now has two little teeth and still smiles more than any baby I know. He lights up the room and melts his mommy and daddy with his cute little grin! :) He IS growing... slowly but surely, I guess. At his last appointment (7 months old) he weighed 15.8 lbs, in the 9th percentile and 30th percentile for height. He still won't eat anything and I try pretty much everyday. :( His skin is MUCH better than it used to be, but he still gets allergies or something... who knows! We took him in the hot tub for the first time tonight and he LOVED it!! Can't wait to take him swimming this week! Anyway, here's our little guy at 8 months old...

Oh Taya

Yesterday after just BARELY putting Taya's swimsuit on she got soaking wet outside THEN said she had to go potty... so not wanting to deal with the hassle, I was holding Dodger feeding him at the time, I told her to just go in her suit then rinse off in the little hose toy that we have after. Is that gross? Little did I know the HUGE MISTAKE it would lead us to today...

We just got home from the store and she went in the back gate and I ran into the house cause I had to pee so bad. Too much information, sorry. When I was done I opened the back door and she had her pants and underwear pulled down around her ankles - our conversation went like this:

"Taya! What are you doing?!"
"Taya's naken" (naked)
"I forgot you had to go potty, come inside and I'll take you."
"Taya did."
"You went potty?"
"Yep. Drass." (grass)
"You went potty in the grass?!? Are your pants wet?"
"No, Taya sit down."
"Taya, did you sit down and go potty in the grass?!"
"Yep. Mar-ee doe poddy drass, gunter doe poddy drass, Taya doe poddy too."
(Marley and Gunther are the dogs!)

Who would've thought my simple mistake yesterday would lead to this? Not me. Oopsies... or as Taya would say "soupsie poopsies".

"Honey, are you serious?!?"

So this is my latest project- I bought them for our family room so we could make the room look a little cleaner and hide all of our remotes, cords, movies, books, etc. I just finished them and we brought them in the house yesterday... we love them! :) I was a little nervous about this project since it's laminate, but it turned out so good and hopefully won't get too beat up by Taya! I always love hearing Cam complain about the stuff when he goes to pick it up, "Honey, are you serious? This is the ugliest stuff I've ever seen" is usually what gets said. It always puts a smile on my face :)

Before....

After....
Before....
After....
So the process went like this, for those of you who are wondering... sanded down the laminate a little, primed once, sanded the top a little, primed again, spray painted 3 coats, glazed (the antique look), then painted 2 coats of polyurethane (a sealer). The handles I sprayed with a metallic spray paint in aged bronze- which I loved by the way. That's it in a nutshell! I was going to take pictures of the whole process this time, but let's be honest, I got too excited and started before realizing I hadn't taken pictures. Sorry! Maybe next time...

A Few of My Favorite Things...

Or phrases, really.

Lately Taya has been saying a TON of the following:

My hands get so dry and sometimes crack and bleed (disgusting, I know) and Taya will see my owies, make a sad face and say "aaawwwee poor iddle (little) mommy".

"Where dis tome from?"

"oohh thad be fun!"

"1, 2, free, 9, 10"

And my favorite is when she talks to Dodger:

"It's ok buddy, almos home buddy"

"Hi sweet boy!"

"Baby Dodger stop it right now!!!" (crying in the car :) )

It's so cute, sometimes in the car she'll start laughing and Dodger will giggle so they'll just go back and forth laughing at each other. :)

This is not that exciting of a post, I know, but I wanted to remember a few of the cute things she says. I know there's more, just can't think of anymore off the top of my head! We haven't been up to much lately, as you can tell :). I've been on a strict diet for a few weeks now and Cam started last week so we've just been cranky at our house! haha. I've just been working on a few more projects that I'll post when/ IF they ever get done! :) We finally finished our garden yesterday, and by we I mean me and Taya and by Taya I mean she pretty much just ruined whatever I did so she wasn't really that much help! She loved it though so I guess that's all that matters. I'm so excited though, I finally get to have a garden! Let's just hope I don't ruin it! ... Anyway, hopefully a more exciting post next time...

And So It Begins...

Stitches. Already. At two and a half.

Here's the story:

This morning right before Cam left for work he got her out of the bathtub and put a towel around her. She wanted to see me giving Dodger a bath so she walked into the bathroom, tripped on the end of the towel and face planted right onto our slate tile. Her hands were all wrapped in the towel so she couldn't even catch herself :( It scared me to death, I thought she'd broken her nose for sure! I asked her if her nose hurt and she said no and pointed to her chin, so I lifted up her head and sure enough here was this...

(sorry if you're throwing up now)

(This picture was taken after the chaos, I'm not that terrible of a mother to pause my child from her screaming so I can take a quick pic :) . ) Anyway, luckily Cam hadn't left for work yet and my mom (who is in town, thank goodness!) drove right over to help out so I could take Taya to the doctor. She was such a sweet little thing, before we left she kept saying "tay's owie not hurt, tay's owie feel bedder". Cam left for work, but felt bad half way there and headed to the doctor so he could be with us-- thank you!!! I was so glad and I know Taya was too! She did so good at first at the doctor until she got the shot -luckily now days they can partially put you under for the procedure, otherwise it would have been a nightmare!!! We were laughing so hard, she was normal for a few minutes then all of the sudden looked at Cam with the biggest eyes, like she had seen a ghost, and went completely limp. At first it was hilarious, then we layed her down and she couldn't move her little body, but was shaking a little and looked so scared. Such an awful feeling, I had a really hard time seeing her like that, but after all was said and done it was soooo worth the knock out! Of course I brought my camera to document the whole thing, so here's a few sad pictures of our eventful day...

At the doctor right before the sedation...

Poor little Taya, still out of it and 3 stitches later...

NEVER seen my child so still! :( ...

And a video that probably isn't that cool, you'll just NEVER see Taya this calm again! ...

So here's the funny part of the story:

Yes, funny. Right before we left the nurse told us that Taya would probably be really woozy and sleepy all day and that she'd probably go home and sleep for a few hours. I thought that sounded kinda nice to be quite honest! I left the office and had to carry her to the car because she couldn't walk yet. Her words were all slurring and she wasn't making any sense so I had to try not to laugh :) On the way home I looked in my rear view mirror to see her making a piggy face for about a minute straight with no other facial expression (using her thumb to push up her nose). This time I laughed. When we got out of the car is where the fun began. She was pretty much bouncing off the walls! My mom got her an inflatable trampoline yesterday so we set it up in our living room for now and Taya immediately got in it and started bouncing from wall to wall saying "whooaaa whoooaaa whoooooaaaaa" over and over. It was hilarious!!! She'd sit down and say "spinning" then stand up and say "weeiirrdd". You could tell she definitely felt a little out of it. Then she took a nap for only about an hour and has been going going all day and just went to bed at 9pm. SERIOUSLY NURSE?!?! What happened to my chill day of getting so many things done?? Apparently the meds had the opposite affect! At least she wasn't in pain and mopey all day though so I guess I can't complain! The day is over, thank goodness. It was a busy one.

This was not my usual post of Taya, hopefully more funny ones to come...

Dodger

Dodger had a doctor appointment last week and this week and we FINALLY figured out that he is for sure allergic to milk. Would've been nice to know 6 MONTHS AGO!!! So FYI to all you new or not new mommies out there, if your baby has SEVERE eczema, spits up like crazy, doesn't sleep, doesn't eat, etc. , it might not be "normal" like the doctors may say. Needless to say, he started on soy milk 3 days ago and we've seen a HUGE improvement! He's sleeping SO good, eating much better and his skin actually looks like a baby now. It's so exciting! I can't tell you how many things I had tried on his skin, poor guy itched like crazy. He's been such a trooper through all this though, he's such a happy little guy. He loves to flirt with girls, you look at him, he'll smile and turn away like he's shy. It's adorable. He's still my little cuddle bug too, and still so tiny. His stats this visit were:

Weight 14 lbs - 17 percentile
Height 25 in - 25th percentile

Stroll and a Snooze

Went for a walk the other day with the kids and this tired little boy fell asleep like this...

I absolutely love it! Right above him is a little window thing that he can see me through, so I like to think he was watching his mommy :) What a cutie.

Baby Taya VS Baby Dodger

I used to think Taya and Dodger looked NOTHING alike as babies, but exactly alike now UNTIL I looked at old pictures from when she was born. Holy. Cow. Their features are identical. Maybe it's cause Dodger had all that hair that made him look completely different to me. Anyway, here's a comparison... and don't laugh at how they're uploaded, I'm a retard with this whole blogger layout business ...

Dodger

I think their noses and mouths are so similar, Dodger just has a little extra pudge on him :)

Holy Static

I had just finished vacuuming the other day and Taya started rolling all over the carpet. When she got up this is what she looked like...

Love it! :)

Finally...

I finally finished my chair, which has been sitting in our garage FOREVER! I absolutely LOVE it and LOVE even more that Cam LOVES it too, after shaking his head at me when he first saw the beauty. (Thank you so much Kym for helping me reupholster it!) ...

Before...

After...

It's not perfect by any means, but turned out pretty cute. It'll be going in the kids bathroom upstairs. I made a shower curtain a few months ago with the same fabric as the chair, it turned out really cute too, hopefully it won't look too cheesy... matchy matchy. :)

Tooty Taya

This is what Taya said today... (I wonder where she gets it!) :

"Taya tooted. (giggle giggle) Smell Taya's bum."

Where are her manners?!? :/
