Oh Taya...

Today we were driving to lunch for my brother's birthday and, once again, had another laugh-out-loud moment...

Me: "I'm pooped!"
Taya: "Ya gotta go poo, Mom?"
Me: (laughing) "No, sometimes when you say 'pooped' it just means you're tired"
Taya: "Ya tired of goin poo, Mom?"

I forget how literal 3 year olds take things. Guess there will be no more "pooped" comments around our house :)

Family Pictures

It's that time of year again! :) Cam LOVES taking pictures. He wishes we could take family pictures every day! I literally have to calm him down before we take them because he just gets way too excited...

Oh wait, no. Not at all. He HATES them! I don't think a person could hate them anymore than he does. Even my kids. Dodger was an angel. Taya just wanted to run around. But for the most part they went well and we got a few good ones, thanks to Jocelin at www.photographybyjocelin.com. Here's a few favorites...
Taya and her crazy eyes- we practiced "keeping our eyes open" when we smile the day before pictures and this is what it turned into! ...
Don't you just want to SQUEEZE him!?!? ...
 My little Mama's boy ...
 And our princess...

Thanks so much Jocelin, once again!!!! You're amazing! :)

Taya-ism

Taya was "helping" me finish all of our stockings tonight and sneezed about 5 times in a row. She looked at me and said, "Whoa, Taya has wotsa bwess you's Mommy!". I thought it was so cute! :)

Dodgie-Poo

Yes, unfortunately for the poor kid, that has turned into Dodger's nickname :).

Since it's almost month past his birthday, I thought I'd do a quick post about our sweet boy! My blog has been completely neglected lately because of my other blog (click here), but my kids need the attention for minute, so here it is...

Dodger turned 1 on October 22nd... he had a great day, but had no idea it was anything special. :)

We had a ward Halloween party that night and a busy day that day, but we still managed to squeeze in presents and cupcakes- which, by the way, he was not a big fan of! (what!?!)

Hate that his name has created a theme for this, but I guess he'll have to deal with it... hope he likes baseball when he grows up (sorry Dodger!)...
(I know, cheesy, right? :) )
What kid doesn't LOVE cupcakes?! ....
Finally opened up a little...

 And there it is....

Yummy presents! ...

A Few Things About Dodge:
13 months:
19 lbs 10 oz, 5th percentile
height 65th percentile

  • He, still, is the happiest, most smiley baby you'll ever see
  • So super cuddly, he gives me hugs every morning
  • He'll give kisses with a WIDE open mouth :)
  • When he hears music he dances by bobbing up and down and side to side!
  • Sits on his knees all the time... so cute! ...
  •    He falls asleep sitting with his head leaned against the bumper...
    •  Still a mama's boy! Have to admit, I do love it :)
    • Still fits in 3 month onesies and other 3-6 month clothes!
    • LOVES his sister
    • He waves
    • Just learned a new trick...

**We LOVE our little boy and could not have asked for a sweeter baby! He really is such an angel and we are so blessed to have him in our family. Happy late Birthday Dodgie, we love you so much!**

    Another Taya-ism

So I realize it's been forever since I had a real post, and I promise I'll do it soon, but I had to write this one down real fast...

Today after church Taya used the bathroom by herself and came out...

"Taya, did you wash your hands?"
"No, it's fine. Taya not get my bum on my hands."

Cam and I were both DYING laughing! So now the question is, how do you teach your 3 year old that just because they don't "get their bum on their hands" doesn't mean they don't need to wash them? :)

    Taya-isms

I know, I know, I've been neglecting this blog lately, but I have to write down a few things real quick before I forget! I'll do a longer post later, but Taya has been hilarious lately and has said some pretty funny things. Let me just say first though, she still speaks in third person and can't say her "L" 's so things come out much funnier...

*Last week I was trying to hurry and get the kids in the car because we were late for something -shocker- and I hurried and buckled Taya and as soon as I was done she looked at me and said, "y'all done freakin' out Mom?" WHAT?!?! Where did she get that from?? Cam!! :)

*Taya is always curious about aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, cousins, etc. so one day she said

    "What's Taya?"
    "You're my daughter"
"Tay's not daughter, Tay's pretty princess"

*Today Taya got in the car and wouldn't sit in her car seat so I got mad and her response was this:

"Don't get mad at Taya anymore Mom"
"Well, you need to start listening to me, Taya, then I don't have to get mad"
"Taya isten you when Tay gets bigger"

Again, WHAT?!?! Haha, I couldn't help but laugh at that one!

Never a dull moment with Taya, that's for sure!

    One Year Ago Today...

Our sweet baby boy was born

We can't believe it's been a year already! He's grown so fast, but is still our tiny little man :)

Hard to believe this is the same baby...

    Mom's House Make Over

This past week I flew to Washington and my mom and I spent every day working like crazy trying to get all of her stuff refinished. Believe it or not I had a blast and hopefully she did too! :)

My mom told me on the phone that I could have the chest in her bedroom because it was so old and nasty and she wanted to get rid of it. Long story short, as soon as I saw it I fell in love and made her keep it!:) I think she's happy she did! This is only the beginning of MANY things we accomplished this week...

It's still missing the drawer on the bottom- we kind of forgot about it with all the other projects we were working on at the time, but I LOVE how it turned out and hope to someday be able to find something like it for my bedroom too! :)

    Shea's "New" Bar Stools

My friend, Shea, picked up these beauties on KSL a few weeks ago...
Not the most appealing things you've ever seen (no offense, Shea :) ) but had HUGE potential and definitely a great find! I love all the detail/shapes on them!
She'll kill me for posting these, but this is her working on them :) (yes, I know my garage is a mess!)
    And ... Ta Duh! ...

I'm so mad, I thought it would've been SUPER cute to put a decorative piece on the backs of them, but didn't think about it until we were almost finished and by that time you just get excited to be done with it. They turned out so super cute though and I'm excited for her new addition to her kitchen! :) Good job Shea!!

And ps, the credenza/dresser in the background is going to be my next project. It had to be put on hold for a little while, but I'm so excited about it! Still haven't decided what color to paint it so if anyone is in need of something like this and wants to buy it and choose the color and everything please let me know. It's solid wood and probably weighs 350lbs. It's a credenza with 4 drawers (two of which have file holders) and 2 doors that have shelves on the inside. It would be beautiful as an entertainment center, credenza (obviously) or even a dresser if you need it. If you're interested please leave a comment or email me at ashleytreu@gmail.com.

    A Dresser For Tiff

Cam's sister asked me to refinish a dresser a couple weeks ago, but she needed it to be upright to fit in their bedroom. I was stoked because I'd been eyeing one on KSL for a while, just waiting for my other projects to be finished. Anyway, after looking at the colors of her room we both decided on cream (shocker, I know). I was pretty excited about this dresser, it turned out so cute. Cam didn't want to let it go, haha! Never thought that day would come! Anyway, here are the before and after pics...

(Yes, it's missing one knob- it was screwed on so tight I couldn't get it undone yet, but was too anxious to take the pictures :) )
Don't you just love these eagle knobs... gag!

Tiff picked up the dresser last night, hopefully she liked it! :)

I've posted previously on my blog about my furniture class and on facebook, but if you haven't seen the info yet and are interested, click here, or really you can just scroll down a bit!

Ok, it's official, the date will be Saturday, October 16th, 10:00am-12:00pm at my home for the small price of $35 :) . Please let me know if you're planning on coming as soon as possible. You can either leave me a comment on my blog, facebook, or call, text, or email me (ashleytreu@gmail.com) if you have any questions. I'll be going over pretty much everything you need to know to start refinishing furniture- or whatever it is that you want to refinish! It will be a hands-on class so you'll learn and get a feel for what you're doing and I'll teach you tricks and tips I've learned the hard way :) . Hopefully that date works for any of you who are interested, if not, hopefully this will be the first class of many! Thanks!

    Furniture Refinishing Class...

I've had a lot of people ask me about furniture refinishing lately so I'm thinking about teaching a small class in the next few weeks. I'm not sure of any details yet, but please let me know if you are interested at all and if I have enough people I'll do it for sure. Like I said, I'm not sure on details- price, location, date, etc. but if you are wanting to do it please leave me a comment with your email and I can get back to you as soon as I decide. It will probably be in the next few weeks before the weather gets too cold and just a class on beginners/basics of painting. I'm not a professional by any means, but feel like I know enough to help you out a little! :) Thanks!

    Happy Birthday Taya!

Taya turned 3 on September 1st! Crazy she's that old already! The morning began like this...

"Taya, do you know what today is?"
(Thinks about it for a second) "It's Taya's Happy Birthday!!" (in a high pitched singing)
    "Yeah!"
    "Now?"
    "Yes, now." :)

She had such a fun day! She opened a couple presents in the morning, then Daddy came home and we showed her the new trampoline the grandparents pitched in to buy her! Can you imagine her excitement!? Well, probably not, but let me just tell you she asks me, literally, every single day if she can go over to our neighbors to jump on their "trampeen" so the money spent was TOTALLY worth it! She jumped ALL morning and ALL afternoon, then ALL during her party. She didn't even want to stop to eat cake or open presents! (so thank you grandma's and grandpa's!!!)

She was so cute all day, she thanked me for everything I did for her! She saw me making her cake and said, "That Taya's burtday cake? Ahhh... that's so sweet, Mommy, thank you."

This was right after she saw the "trampeen". Can you tell how happy she is? :) ...
I don't know why, but this picture cracks me up! Taya's face is hilarious! And poor Dodger! ...
This was at her little Birthday party. Everyone was trying to get her to smile with her eyes open, and after the 2nd picture it ended up hilarious...
    1
    2
    3
    Genna & Taya...
    Cole, Jace & Taya...
(Don't you love how Taya's leaning into Jace? Looks like they're going to prom :) )

I had such a hard time getting her to bed that night, every time I turned my back she was on her new bike or playing with a different toy! The night ended with prayers, which I wrote down in her journal because I thought they were so cute. They went like this: "Dear Henny Fadder, thank you dis day, thank you trampeen, thank you famy, thank you friends... otsa friends... 1, 2, free, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, ... amen."Apparently she loves her 10 friends :). When I left her room we could still hear her from downstairs singing "Happy Birthday" to herself at 10pm! Haha!

    A few things about Taya:

-Taya is such a sweet girl, she's constantly telling me "good job, Mommy", "good girl, Mommy", "you did it, Mommy" and gives me so much encouragement!

-Sometimes she is nice to her brother and makes him laugh hystarically, it's adorable.

-Every night before bed Taya says "scratch my back, Mommy". She LOVES anything scratched and tickled and hates it when we stop.

-Whenever she leaves the room and leaves things behind she says "don't eat Taya's food, Mommy" or "don't touch Taya's ___, Taya be right back". Apparently she thinks I steal her things!"

-Yes, she still talks in third person. We like it though, so maybe we won't try that hard to fix it :)

-She LOVES stories at bedtime and wants "just ooonnneee mmooorree story" every single night!

-She's started asking anyone, anywhere "What's or name?" :)

Happy Birthday Monkey, we love you!
