SERIOUSLY WEIRD

Our family must have some issues, it's always one thing after the other at our house this summer. And just so you know, before reading this post, by the end of it you're probably going to die laughing because of all the crazy stories I've told you in the past... and now this one...

So two nights ago at about 11:00 p.m. Cameron ran across the street to pick something up from a friends house while I was just about to get ready for bed. All of the sudden the door opens... it's Cameron, his eyes looking like a deer in headlights. He says "ASHLEY... something's wrong... something just flew in my ear!!!!!" I didn't think it was a big deal at first, but he starts freaking out, shaking his head all over the place and pounding his head with his hand. He said it felt like something was flying around in his brain. I've never seen anyone freak out like that, it was the weirdest thing ever!! We didn't have any hydgrogen peroxide so I called my sister and luckily she had some. (Out here in Chicago all of the security guys live in the same complex, so that's why we're all so close.) I called my mom on the way over to Jenna's and she said to get a flashlight and shine it in his ear so the bug could find its way out. By the time I got to Jenna's and back Cameron went into panic mode so it was hard to settle him down. He leaned over the sink and we flushed it with the hydrogen peroxide, did the flashlight thing, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It was getting so late and nothing was getting better so I finally called Jenna and asked her to come over and stay with Taya while we headed to the hospital. When her and Andrew got there the bug, we figured, was dying so it was settling down a little bit. We decided to wait it out just in case it got better. Cameron was able to relax a little, but every now and then would spaz out in pain. This is the weirdest thing... whenever I'd shine the light in his ear he'd to the same spazing thing with his head. Probably by 12:30 or 1:00 I headed up to bed and Cameron dunked his head in the bathtub for 10 minutes, as our doctor said it might help drown the bug or even clean it out. He thought it finally died and then came to bed (and luckily with help of ambien was able to sleep)! The next day Cameron went into the doctor, him not believing there was a bug in there, but he pulled out a light thingy anyway, looked in his ear and pulled it out really fast. He put it back in and said "HOLY (you know what) there really is a bug in there!" Anyway, Cameron said the whole procedure killed, but we're happy it's finally out! The doctor pulled out what looked like a body and legs, but they couldn't tell what it was. He decided to flush the ear out just to make sure it was clean and out pops the head and wings of a...... ready for this?...... MOTH!!! Yes, sick, we know! I know what you're thinking, you want to see this nasty thing that somehow got its way up into Camerons eardrum... well, it's your lucky day, Cameron took a picture, and well, a video to go along with it. YIPPY!! So brace yourselves people, and remember, the next time you're walking by an outside lamp thingy, cover your ears, or better yet, just wear earmuffs to be safe. Enjoy this video as we all know Cameron enjoyed having it in his ear... Let's just hope it didn't lay anything in there :) .....

Dummies Guide to Parenting

A few months ago I had just gotten home from work as Taya was starting to wake up from a nap. She started screaming so Cameron went and got her, brought her downstairs and said "why is she all wet??" I figured she probably had just been sweating, so I started to take her clothes off when all of the sudden... "Cameron, you forgot to put a diaper on her!" He couldn't believe it and I couldn't either! We both laughed about it for the longest time, and pretty much still do!

..................................

Today has been quite the day, but this topped it off... I've been dog sitting for my sister the last couple of days and Walter (Waltipoo the Maltipoo) and Taya love to play together. It's hilarious, but that's another story... When Taya woke up from her nap I layed her down to change her, but she was so much more interested in playing with Waltipoo that she wouldn't hold still at all. She's had a diaper rash for a few days so I thought I'd let her play for a minute and air out her rash. Her and Walti were chasing each other around so I decided to hurry and finish my makeup. Probably ten minutes later I picked up Taya, who was wearing a cute, flowery dress, brought her downstairs, put her in her high chair and started feeding her delicious sweet potato mush, when all of the sudden water started dripping from her seat. I was puzzled for a minute, trying to remember if I had already given her her sippy cup when it hit me... I forgot to put her diaper on!!! And no that wasn't water, it was pee. I was wondering why Taya's face went blank... that's why. I started laughing out loud and immediately had to call Cam and apologize for giving him so much crap about his diaper incident so long ago! We're fantastic parents, aren't we! I guess we've both learned a good lesson from all of this, let's just hope it doesn't happen again! And also, if anyone would like to purchase this book for us we probably could use it... a lot. Thanks! I just hope that it mentions in here to use diapers AT ALL TIMES!

FUNNY FACE

Taya has been making this face for the last few weeks now. It started out with her doing it every once in a while and now it's about every ten seconds. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen, so luckily we've been able to catch it on camera a few times...

At first I thought maybe she just had boogers in her nose that were bugging her, but now... not so much :) Oh my sweet little Taya!

Happy Birthday Me!

It's my Birthday today, I'm going to celebrate with a nap. It will be awesome! :) And maybe another pair of $2.99 slippers at Burlington Coat Factory. Mine have a huge hole in them, but I still wear them everyday. Sad, I know. Either way, it should be a pretty eventful day...

A Few of the Things Taya Loves...

Taya is 10 months now and quite the handful! She keeps me busy all day long crawling all over the house and has now figured out how to open all the cupboards and drawers. It makes it really fun to clean the kitchen! She loves to open and close the cupboards and hear the noises that it makes! Cameron loves it! haha. Don't worry, child proofing the house is next on my list of things to do! ...

Taya loves to play hide-n'-seek, she's not very good at it though :) ...

We've been doing a lot of swinging this summer, she loves that too...

... and so does mommy...

She loves the pool and loves to swim, but mostly likes to drink as much water as she can. She sits on the side and bends over and tries to drink what's been splashed over. Sometimes she likes to pick up little rocks in the water and put them in her mouth too... that's really fun for me...

Splash Pad

Yesterday we took all the kids to the splash pad. Taya LOVES it here! It's so funny to watch her. Here's a few pictures from the day...

We actually got a few really good pictures of all the girls!! Shocker! haha. These girls are so cute, they're all two weeks apart -- Tessa (Taya's kind of cousin), Taya, and London (Taya's friend).

So excited about the water!

This is Taya and Tessa... For some reason I think this picture is so cute. We couldn't get them to look, but I love the way they're sitting and almost holding hands, I think it's precious :)

This is Taya trying to drink all the running water. She did this for probably a good ten minutes. It was absolutely hilarious!

This is a worn out little Tay!

Taste of Chicago

A few of us went to the Taste of Chicago today, it's this huge event held in the middle of downtown Chicago where restaurants come, set up boothes and give samples of all their food. Well, ok, not actually GIVE samples, wouldn't that be nice, but you have to pay for tickets, then the tickets get you the food... anyways... it was a long, HOT day, but we had fun and got to see more of the city so it was worth it. The crowds were absolutely ridiculous, I was so glad Cameron wasn't there, he would have gone NUTS! I feel like by the time we left we should've been given "I Survived The Taste of Chicago" t-shirts. Maybe I'll write a letter to the mayor. Or governor. Or whoever the heck is in charge of those things.

Here's a few pictures from our little adventure, and by little I mean not so little... how little can an adventure be with 3 hot (and by hot I mean sweaty) women, 2 babies, 2 kids, 3 strollers and one big, brown astro van... Wow that was a mouthful...

Look real close, that's me and Tay under the sign :)

Taya wasn't too happy after I stopped feeding her my blue raspberry italian ice... notice her blue mouth!

This is the famous Chicago Bean... Just a giant mirrored bean in downtown Chicago. It's actually pretty cool to see it reflect everything!

And once again, look real close, that's me and Tay!

We took a picture straight into the bean of all of us... not the best, but kind of funny. You can see handprints all over the bean! haha. Makes you wonder who has to clean the thing! hmmm...
